BUSINESSMAN, Sir Wicknell has extended a cash injection of US$ 300 000 to giants Highlanders following the appointment of Benjani Mwaruwari as the head coach.
Benjani landed in Bulawayo yesterday to assume his post at the helm of the country’s oldest club.
Wicknell was instrumental in the former warriors striker joining the former champions.
He pledged to fully fund Mwaruwari’s stay at Bosso catering for all the financial requirements.
Highlanders had earlier this year engaged South African Thabo Senong to take charge of the team.
But the deal suffered a stillbirth afte the Highlanders leadership opted to engage Mwaruwari instead.
On Sunday, Wicknell announced that he was further extending financial support to Bosso.
This includes a new car of his choice for the head coach as well as a luxury coach for the team
“May the new head coach identify a car of his choice with the agreed value in his contract and I will gladly buy it this coming week,” he said.
“I have purchased and made arrangements for the immediate delivery of a brand new 75-seater Higer executive bus, fitted with luxurious amenities including a toilet, full leather interior, TV, Wi-Fi, reclining seats and executive onboard facilities.”
Highlanders are currently having their Annual General Meeting where chairman, Kenneth Mhlophe announced the addition of three new players.
Experienced defender, Lawrence Mhlanga, the versatile Rainsome Pavari and Shelton Moyo.
Bosso will this year celebrate 100 years of existence and are doing all in their powers to do it in style.
Having Wicknell behind their backs for financial support will give the Bulawayo side the stability they need.
Benjani has his work cut out with the immediate task being assembling a strong team that can compete.
So far, they have lost several key players such as the Mushore brothers- Mason and McKinnon.
