Former premiership side, Chapungu are set to hand interim coach Tererayi Zinyowera the job on a permanent basis.
Zinyowera has been the caretaker coach since the passing on of Tawanda Marimo last year.
He successfully guided the Airforce of Zimbabwe side to a fourth place finish in the Central Region Soccer League last year.
It appears he did enough to convince his paymasters to get the post on a substantive basis.
“Zinyowera is as good as the substantive coach at Chapungu,” said a source who spoke on condition of anonymity.
“It’s all agreed he will be in charge of the team and his immediate task is to win promotion back into the premiership.”
The Gweru side were relegated from the top flight in 2019, they have been playing second fiddle to the affluent teams in the league.
But this term, authorities believe, the team has to return back to the premiership.
Chapungu have been boosted by the return to fitness of goal scoring machine Edward Watson.
He will most likely form a deadly partnership with Sausani Mudimba in what should be every defender’s worst nightmare.
Waru Waru will begin their pre-season this week to prepare for what they expect to be a comeback season.
