BLANKET Mine football club are going all out for the Central Region Soccer League title this season.
The manner in which they have gone about their business this window suggests the Gwanda side are on a mission.
So far, the club has reinforced its squad, signing several experienced players.
These include former Whawha defender, Roy Useni, speedy winger Donnington Muparo, Tirivangani Muchapuya and goalkeeper, Panashe Masunda.
The roping in of seasoned gaffer, Luke Petros, strengthens Blanket Mine’s case as a serious challenger for promotion.
Although cross town rivals Gwanda Pirates and Kwekwe United are being tipped as favorites, club chairperson Milton Chigova feels Blanket Mine have a shout in the title race.
“We appointed him because of his experience in the region,” Chigova said of the former warriors striker.
“It is a major plus and we believe his experience can come good for us in the 2026 season.”

Petros has previously won the Central Region Soccer League twice with Whawha in 2014 and 2019.
Last season he was at Sheasham as an assistant coach to Prince Matore, who in now at Hardrock as Kelvin Kaindu’s deputy.
However,after Sheasham decided not to participate in the league this season, Petros will be leading Blanket Mine’s title charge.
“As for our targets this season, the team is aiming high, with the new coach stating that he’s focused on getting Blanket Mine Fc into the topflight,” added Chigova.
