LUKE ‘Vahombe’ Masomere could be on his way back to football coaching as speculation linking him to the TelOne job continues to gather steam.

TelOne are currently going through a lean spell which has seen them slump to six defeats in nine outings this campaign.

The Wifi Boys lost 1-0 to Herentals on Saturday after Ralph Kawondera’s sucker punch in the first half.

Scores of TelOne fans congregated behind the dressing rooms demanding for the sacking of coach Herbert Maruwa.

And the presence of the former Amazulu and Masvingo United coach at Ascot stadium gave credence to the rumours.

Despite the rumours of his sacking, TelOne coach, Hebert Maruwa still believes he can turn the situation around.

He believes much of what is happening now is down to the fragility of the players’ mentality.

“We need to work with the players’ mental strength, I’m sure we will get it right,” he said

However, it remains to be seen whether Maruwa will get the chance to turn the tide before the TelOne executive pulls the trigger.

If Masomere does replace Maruwa, it will mark the return of one of local football’s charismatic characters.

His last job in the top flight was at Triangle at the beginning of last season before he was relieved of his duties.

He later joined Hardrock in the Central Region Soccer League as a technical director and was instrumental in the team gaining promotion to the Premier Soccer League.
