Scottland recorded their third victory of the season in a hard fought 3-2 victory over TelOne at Ascot stadium on Saturday.
The champions held off a late charge by the home side after Walter Musona struck the winner with six minutes to go.
It was a nervy finish to the match as TelOne threw everything at the visitors in search of an equalizer.
Scottland coach, Norman Mapeza hailed his players’ character in holding on to the lead.
“It was about that psychological pathway, the boys showed resilience, it was brilliant. We kept fighting and pushing,” Mapeza said.
“The character, the resilience and mental strength from the boys was massive, well done to the boys.”
Terrence Dzvukamanja gave Scottland the lead just before the half hour mark, his goal was cancelled out by Jerry Chipangura minutes after the break.
But Emmanuel Ziocha restored the lead for Mabviravira a minute later after a defensive lapse by the home side.
TelOne restored parity after 72 minutes when Blessing Matebeck curled in a beautiful free kick.
It was Musona who had the last say when he rifled the ball home past Takudzwa Chikosi leaving the Wifi Boys with no chance of a comeback.
Alarm bells are now ringing for TelOne coach, Hebert Maruwa after his side only managed to collect two points in five matches.
The Gweru side has now lost all their home matches this season.
“Like in the last game we gave away two easy goals,we conceded school boy blunders allowing them to score,” said Maruwa.
Dembare march on
Dynamos continued with their resurgence when they edged MWOS 1-0 at Rufaro stadium.
The Glamour Boys are now on 11 points just one shy of the log leaders Caps United.
The result was a bitter pill for Lloyd Mutasa who is yet to win a match at the stadium with his Norton based outfit.
“I think we spoke about this throughout the week trying to psyche the boys up but it was not to be.
“There are still some games ahead and I’m sure the record will be broken,” Mutasa said.
In Mhondoro, Caps United’s winning run came to an end after they were beaten 1-0 by Ngezi Platinum Stars.
