ZIFA Midlands Province Division 2 League today unveiled a cup tournament, the ZIFA Midlands Province Golden Mine Octa Knock out competition.
The cup competition will be sponsored to the tune of US $7000 and will feature the top eight teams in the league.
A local mining organization, Golden Mine will sponsor the tournament which is set to roll into action during the mid season break.
ZIFA Midlands Province chairperson, Pervious Mathe said the coming aboard of Golden Mine is a huge endorsement to the league.
“I am very thrilled by this development, it shows how much our league has improved,” he said.
“This shows us that we are on the right direction as a league and as a province, this tournament will go a long way in improving the standard of football.”
Golden Mine spokesperson, Tatenda Gambinga this is the beginning of a long term partnership.

“As an organization we want to give back to the community through supporting sport.
“We are here for the long term development of football and we hope that this initial knock out tournament can open doors for great things ahead.”
Mathe revealed that clubs who will be in the top eight by match day 11 will qualify for the competition.
With the Midlands province league comprising of three groups, the top two in each group will qualify while the two third best teams will join to complete the teams.
