BLANKET MINE were on Saturday crowned champions of the ZIFA Central Region Soccer League after they finished at the top of the table.

To put the cherry on top, the Barbers completed the season undefeated following a 1-1 draw against Good Morning at Sabiwa stadium.

By winning the league title, the Gwanda based outfit earned themselves a ticket to play in the Premier Soccer League.

They finish the season with 82 points, five more than second placed Kwekwe United, who beat Vhembe Stars Academy 2-1.

Blanket Mine general manager Elton Gwatidzo was elated that his side had managed to win the league becoming the first team in Gwanda to be promoted.

“We are very happy, as a company we have been waiting for this, the boys did a splendid job,” he said.

“For 34 games we never doubted their ability, we look forward to the Premiership coming to Gwanda.”

Central region vice chairperson Pithias Shoko expressed satisfaction at the level of competition this season.

“Congratulations to Blanket Mine for being our winners in 2026,” Shoko said.

“As compared to other seasons, this has been one of our best seasons and I want to thank all the teams for that.”

The curtain will come down on the season next weekend with the Dream Inn-Super 8 Challenge Cup Final at Chahwanda stadium.

Grain Tigers and Super Strikers will clash in the inaugural final.
