ARMY side, Tongogara have set their sights on reaching the finals of the Inaugural Dream Inn-GMI Super 8 Challenge Cup.
The former Premiership side will face fellow Kwekwe side Grain Tigers at Mbizo stadium on Sunday.
After overcoming Chapungu in the quarter finals of the competition at Ascot stadium, Tongogara will once again be away from home.
Tongogara coach Freddy Friday Mudado is aware if the threat posed by his opponents at their home ground.
However, Mudado said the soldiers are prepared for battle.
“We know we are facing a team that has been doing very well in their recent league matches and we respect them as a strong and competitive side,” Mudado said.
“Playing at home will also give them an advantage, and we expect them to use that to their benefit.
“However, we are also confident in our recent performances in away matches, we know what we are capable of. We respect Grain Tigers, but they should also know that we are coming to compete, they will have to work extremely hard if they want to earn a place in the final.”
The finals of the competition will be held at Chahwanda stadium in mid November.
In the other semi final, Super Strikers will be at home to fellow Gwanda side, West Nicholson at Phelandaba stadium.
Super Strikers chairperson, Marshall Dube is hoping his side can put behind their poor league form and progress into the finals.
“This is a cup game and our boys are geared for this match, we want to be in the final,” Dube said.
“That huge loss to FC Platinum U19 must not be used as a standard,we are going to turn up on Sunday as we march to the finals.”
West Nicholson coach Ofhani Muleya is playing it safe ahead of the showdown.
“For us, the focus is to remain disciplined, work hard for each other and execute our game plan on the day. Cup football is different from league football, and small details can decide a match like this,” he said.
