CAPS UNITED president, Farai Jere has announced changes to the club’s technical department.

Lloyd Chitembwe has vacated his position as the head coach to become the technical director.

He will no longer sit on the bench and will not be responsible for the results.

Jere said Chitembwe’s replacement will be named on Thursday.

Former midfielder, Ian Bakala joins as the new assistant head coach.

“Ian Bakala will serve as the assistant head coach in the new technical team,” Jere told the media on Monday.

“A new head coach will be announced on Thursday,” he added.

“We will also introduce a new technical setup that will take effect this weekend.”

The changes brings to an end a marriage that had become sour between Chitembwe and the Makepekepe faithfuls.

The Caps fans have been relentlessly calling for the former midfielder’s ouster.

Despite leading Makepekepe to a league title in 2016, Chitembwe has largely struggled to steer the ship to success in recent years.

The Harare side currently sit 15th on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League standings.
