THE fight for control in the Central Region Soccer League takes another chapter with a full set of fixtures lined up this mid-week.
There is very little that separates the leading teams with only five points between leaders Blanket Mine and fourth placed West Nicholson.
West Nicholson will clash against Gwanda Pirates this afternoon in the opening match of the mid week schedule.
It will be a high intense match for both sides who cannot afford to drop more points at this critical stage of the season.
Action goes a notch up on Wednesday when former premiership sides Shabanie and Chapungu clash at Maglas stadium.
Chapungu sits in third place with 46 points, five behind leaders Blanket Mine.
Waru Waru as the air force side is affectionately known have enjoyed a purple patch lately.
They have pumped eight goals in their last two matches, beating Vhembe Stars Academy 4-0 and MSU 4-1.
Chapungu assistant coach Moenda Muchingami said the club is now looking forward to building momentum.
“We are now looking for consistency after these two huge wins,” he said.
“Hopefully we can build on the momentum with another win when we play Shabanie and Gwanda Pirates in our next matches.”
Log leaders Blanket Mine have a slightly easier assignment at home to basement side Matobo at Sabiwa stadium.
Second placed Kwekwe United are at home against Sabi Gold Mine at Baghdad stadium.
