ZIFA Central Region Soccer League log leaders Chapungu are approaching their match against Gwanda side, Super Strikers with a lot of caution after dropping points in mid-week.
The Gweru side were held to a 1-1 draw against lowly Shurugwi FC on Wednesday.
That draw saw Chapungu’s lead at the top being cut down to a single point.
Chapungu are on 33 points, one more than second placed Blanket Mine who remain unbeaten in this campaign.
The Air force of Zimbabwe side are back at their fortress this afternoon as they host Gwanda side, Super Strikers.
Waru Waru coach, Tererai Zinyowera said their loss to Shurugwi FC was a wake up call.
“Losing to Shurugwi was a wake up call for the boys,” he told The Echo Sports.
“At times we take some of these games for granted, but I am sure the boys now know that regardless of who we play, we have to be at our best.”
Super Strikers’ last visit to Gweru was a victorious one when they edged MSU 2-1.
Zinyowera is not underestimating the Gwanda side who sit in 10th place on the table with 18 points.
He challenged his side to show their mettle and bounce back to victory on Saturday.
“These are the games that we have to show what we are made of, if we want to win promotion, we have to get results against any team.
“At times players reserve their best against the bigger sides and get reluctant against the so-called small teams.
“It’s an issue we have discussed with the boys and I am expecting a response against Super Strikers.”
