TELONE made a statement of intent for the season when they dispatched Triangle United 4-1 at Ascot stadium on Saturday.

Goals from Tawanda Macheke, Bruno Mtigo, Washington Navaya and Blessing Sahondo were enough to seal the victory for the telecoms side.

Menford Mudzimu scored the consolation for Triangle.

TelOne coach, Hebert ‘Jompano’ Maruwa was delighted with the victory.

He however, feels that they still have a long way to go before they can be a complete team.

“I am happy with the result, it was a good game for the boys but it is still work in progress,”he said.

“We are still trying to get the combinations right and have many new players.

“I’m happy that the goals came and it’s a good response after the defeat to Herentals last week.”

At Mandava stadium in Zvishavane, FC Platinum edged Manica Diamonds 1-0 to collect their first set of three points.

Malawian import Vincent Nyangulu’s goal two minutes from time was the difference.

FC Platinum coach, Norman Mapeza paid tribute to his charges for finding a way past the Gem boys.

“It was a difficult game, we had some good opportunities in the first half,” he said

“In the second half we had to dig deep, at the break we brought in Nyangulu and Claivert Tshuma.

“He (Nyangulu) is a good header of the ball and wanted the boys to get in the crosses.”

Champions, Simba Bhora recorded a second goalless draw of the season after being held to a nil all draw away to ZPC Kariba.

Ngezi Platinum Stars edged Green Fuel 1-0 at the Baobab stadium to also pick their first victory of the season.

At Sakubva stadium, Bikita Minerals and newboys Mwos were involved in a nil all stalemate.
