KARATAKERS from across the country will this weekend battle it out at the Kwekwe Karate Open at Kwekwe Sports Club.
Sensei Shepherd Ziwira who is part of the organisers of the annual event said all is set for the tournament, which will also serve as a platform for selection to represent the country at the international stage.
“Preparations for the event have gone on so well, what is left is the big day,” Ziwira told this publication.
He added that the event will this year, be held over two days due to the growing number of participants.
Ziwira pointed out that the decision to have the event run over two days was necessitated by the desire to give karatekas enough time to showcase their fighting skills.
“The tournament is growing every year and seems to be reaching every corner of the country. It has become so difficult to have everything done in one day that is why we will have this tournament over two days so that we give participants ample time to showcase their talents,” he said.
