NGEZI Platinum Stars coach, Takesure Chiragwi heaved a huge sigh of relief after his side recorded the first victory of the season with a slender 1-0 win over Manica Diamonds at Baobab stadium.

The Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions had gone for three matches without a win, they had also not scored this season.

However, striker Claude Mapoka’s first half strike was enough to guarantee the three points for the Mhondoro-Ngezi based outfit.

Chiragwi was naturally happy after the final whistle.

“I would want to thank God for the win, it was not an easy game but the boys played very well and we got the result that we wanted,” he said.

“Like i have been saying for the past games, our performances have been good, but we just lacked cutting edge in front of goal.”

The victory though, puts pressure on Manica Diamonds coach Jairos Tapera whose side has failed to replicate last season’s form which saw them finish as runners up to Ngezi Platinum.

“I think we played very well despite the goal we conceded after a lapse in concentration,” Tapera said.

“Overally, I think we were the better side especially in the second half,”he added.
