FORMER Triangle player, Chasten Ngondonga is making huge strides in his coaching career with an impressive record at Eastern Region Soccer League side Mutare City Rovers.
Ngondonga has not only stabilized the ship but is actually pushing for a top eight finish at the end of the season.
He has been in charge for 10 matches since taking over from Brian Mukundu, managing six wins, three draws and one loss.
When he arrived, the former premiership side were in 13th place, but are now ninth on the log table.
How has he managed to turn things around?
“The secret was just to make the youngsters believe in themselves that they can do it,” he told The Echo Sports.
“Because when i joined the team, they were low in confidence since they had very few wins but many draws.
“So it was a matter of turning those draws into wins that’s why we went on a winning streak in the few games i have been in charge.”
Ngondonga who is currently doing his CAF A coaching badges has already shown great potential that he can be his own man.

He has previously served as an assistant coach at TelOne under Tendai Chikuni and Hebert Maruwa.
On top of that, he was formerly the head coach at Central Region Soccer League side MSU and has had a stint at AMV in Rusape.
Despite his growing stature as a coach Ngondonga remains modest.
“In general, i give credit to the technical team and the players, if it wasn’t for the unity in our camp, we wouldn’t be bringing such positive results,” he added.
In a country where there is a lot of recycling of coaches, Ngondonga’s progress is hard to ignore.
It may not be long before we see him taking charge at one of the Premiership sides.
