FROM Dynamos getting their first win against Simba Bhora in Shamva to TelOne keeping their first clean sheet of the season, we revisit the packed Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Easter program and give you the five major talking points
1. Six of One, Half a dozen of the other
Highlanders remain winless six matches into the 2026 campaign. They have drawn all their matches.
Much of the talk has centred around former warriors striker Benjani Mwaruwari whether he is the right man to steer Bosso forward.
It is clear he is up to something although the team is yet to register a victory.
They say all great teams are built from the back and Benji has so far done that at Bosso.
The Bulawayo giants look solid at the back, just three goals conceded, the third best defensive record in the league.
Simba Bhora have the best record having conceded only one goal while log leaders Caps United have let in two goals.
Let’s put this into perspective, Bosso have played three of last season’s top five.
Defending champions, Scottland, runners up, Simba Bhora, FC Platinum who finished fourth last year and of course perennial arc rivals, Dynamos and neighbors Bulawayo Chiefs
One would think that things are about to change for Bosso, a run of seemingly easier fixtures up next.
Benjani should, in the next few games get his first win, provided the goals start coming.
‘Fanya Haraka,’ the Bosso fans are saying to the ex- Manchester City striker, but football is a game of patience.
One step at a time will do it for Bosso.
“I’m very much satisfied,” he said after the goalless draw against Scottland.
“My boys, fought so well, and you know, coming here, playing against the champions Scottland.
“They have quality everywhere. And if you take a draw from them and don’t concede against them, I think it’s a point gained rather than two points lost.”
Regardless, many football fans are still divided on whether Mwaruwari is the right man at Bosso.
2. The Glamour is back for the boys in blue
It feels like a renaissance at the Mbare side, back to back victories this Easter, six points garnered.
What more can you ask for if you are a Dynamos fan? Look away all you naysayers, the Seven million fans will tell you.

Genesis Mangombe has done a tremendous job with minimal resources and little expectations.
But he has delivered so far, a perfect start with Dembare in second place on the log standings.
Dynamos’ performances this season have given many the belief and the hope.
Jairos Kasondo, Frank Agymeng and Christopher Nettey have emerged as the most outstanding for Dembare.
Kasondo, Dembare’s new poster boy, with four goals to his name, could be on to something special.
3. Mukombedzi: A Star in the making
Local football has been starved of real stand out talent. We have not seen a player set the stage alight probably since Denver Mukamba in 2011-2012.
Caps United may have just unearthed a real gem. Allen Mukombedzi Makepekepe’s knight in shining armor.

Three goals so far and all the goals he has scored coming from the bench.
On Sunday he netted the winner with an absolute peach of a goal, one made in heaven, worthy to win any match anywhere in the world.
Long may it continue Allen!
4. No goals again for Navaya
Did Soccer Star of the Year, Washington Navaya make a wrong move in joining Hardrock?
He has just scored one goal this season at the new boys who are having a stellar debut season.

Navaya has struggled for form as he has struggled for goals. His strike partner, Wilfred Madzungu has three goals
They say a striker is as good as his last goal, it is still early days yet but the longer his dry spell continues, the more questions fans will start to ask.
5. A clean sheet at last for TelOne
TelOne have not had a great start to this season, just three points from six matches.
Not good enough.
But the bad season they are having can be attributed to a poor defensive structure.

Coach Hebert Maruwa has spoken about the need to keep clean sheets in order to win games.
The Gweru side kept their first clean sheet in the goalless draw against ZPC Kariba on Tuesday.
Perhaps a sign that finally the boys are getting the message from their gaffer.
“I’m happy for the first time this season getting a clean sheet, it shows we are in the right direction,” Maruwa said.
“The boys managed to hold on for our lives, with a bit of luck we could have won the game late with that chance.”
Up next for TelOne is an encounter against Chicken Inn at home.
