AFTER this weekend’s Castle Lager Premier Soccer League round of fixtures which saw Caps United extend their lead at the summit of the log standings, we take a look at the major talking points from the week.
1. CAPS UNITED the team to beat
Takesure Chiragwi is surely up to something at Makepekepe!
The former Cup kings underlined their intentions of ending their 10 year league drought with a comfortable 2-0 victory over a strong Hardrock side.
If there were any naysayers who thought Makepekepe are just a fluke, well think again.
Four games, four wins, just one goal conceded, top of the pile with an impeccable record.
2. Khama Billiat rewinds the clock
When Khama Billiat was left out of the Zimbabwe national team that went to the AFCON tournament last year, many thought that was it for Khama.
But like the proverbial cat that has nine lives, it seems the former Mamelodi Sundowns poster boy still has got it.

He has started the season on a high showing flickers of brilliance, scoring four goals in his last two matches.
Even his coach Norman Mapeza has been waxing lyrical about the former warriors talisman.
“You can’t take anything away from Khama,” he said.
“The intelligence is there, he is smart, it is just real talent, it is a real talent.”
3. Manica Diamonds not out of the woods
Having spent the greater part of last season fighting relegation, only surviving by a whisker.
It seems Manica Diamonds are not out of the woods yet. They sit bottom of the log, no point, no goal scored and a negative goal difference of -8.
That tells you the story.
The Mutare side are probably in a worse off state than they were last season and are a sure bet for relegation this year.
4. Hardrock’s bubble burst
New boys, Hardrock’s dream start to life in the top flight came to an end on Saturday when they were added to Caps United’s casualty list.
After garnering seven points from three matches, a good return for any team in the league by any measure, the Kwekwe side’s bubble burst.

But it is not the kind of defeat that would give Hardrock coach Kelvin Kaindu any headaches.
They are still new in the league, a new team and Kaindu will know they need more time.
5. Four without a win for Bosso
If there is a coach who has divided opinion amongst fans this season, it has to be Benjani Mwaruwari.
The Highlanders gaffer has gotten football lovers talking not only Highlanders fans.
Some feel he needs more time, others feel the Highlanders job is too big for him.
Either way, patience is wearing thin, Bosso have to start winning, four matches without a win is not good enough.
But in defence,Benjani will probably argue that he is not losing either.
“This game was tough for us. We have been affected by too much travelling in a short space of time, so for me it is a point gained,” he said after the goalless draw at Simba Bhora.
Just how patient can they be at Highlanders? At least Benjani has an extra two weeks to work on combinations during the International break.
Thereafter, Bosso hosts under fire Joel Luphahla with his FC Platinum at Babourfields.
