FC Hunters coach, Nesbert Saruchera has accused his players of throwing away the match after they suffered their heaviest defeat of the season in a 6-1 thrashing by Hardrock at Chahwanda stadium on Saturday.
The former Black Rhinos midfielder watched in disbelief as his side shipped in five goals in the second half.
Hardrock had gone to the break leading 1-0 courtesy of a Junior Makunike header in the seventh minute.
Reigning soccer star of the year, Washington Navaya added a second soon after the break before Makunike completed his brace moments later.
Congolese Elli ILunga gave Hunters hope of a come back when he pulled one back for the visitors.
But Hardrock turned on the style with three late goals from Tinashe Mashaireni, who got a brace and a Donald Mudadi volley.
After the match, Saruchera tore into his players saying they need to investigate what he termed ‘something fishy’ in his squad’s performance.
“It was not easy for us,” Saruchera told reporters, “This is my first time conceding six in a league game, I think something fishy is happening in our camp.”
Hardrock coach Kelvin Kaindu was delighted with his side returning to winning ways after two draws.
“It’s a good win for us, the last two games we couldn’t take maximum points,” said Kaindu.
“We have struggled against bottom teams but today was a good performance we scored six goals and with a bit of composure we could have scored more.”
Elsewhere, log leaders Caps United suffered their second loss of the season after a 1-0 loss to Bulawayo Chiefs at Rufaro stadium.
Panashe Shoko scored a second half penalty to silence the Makepekepe faithfuls.
In other matches ZRP Karina and MWOS played out a goalless draw while Agama held FC Platinum to a nil all draw as well.
