ALL is not well at Central Region Soccer League side Grain Tigers after they suffered a further set back in their quest for a top four finish after a 1-0 loss away to Jame West in Mberengwa.
The Kwekwe side have now failed to win for the third straight match summing up the disquiet in their camp.
After the 2-0 loss to Sheasham a fortnight ago, the Kwekwe side followed that with a goalless draw against FC Platinum U19 before succumbing to the slender loss to the Mberengwa outfit on Thursday.
Grain Tigers’ last win came in the 1-0 home win against Matobo at Mbizo Stadium.
They are now seventh on the log standings with 38 points.
This publication has gathered that the Grain Tigers camp is imploding with players on industrial action over unpaid dues.
Close to 11 players have been boycotting training since Friday last week protesting over their unpaid salaries and sign on fees.
According to a source who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal, players who joined during the mid season transfer window are the most affected.
The players are yet to receive their US600 sign on fees as well as three months salaries.
“Almost all the players who joined during the July transfer window are yet to be paid their sign on fees,”said the source.
“In addition, the players are owed three months salaries and the club has been playing hide and seek with the players.
“This has affected results as most of the new players have not been turning up for matches, weakening the team.”
What complicates the matter is that some of the players are not affected as they are employed directly by the parent company Grain Marketing Board (GMB).
The Echo News understands that the club is now contemplating paying the players and releasing them as they feel they are being a bad influence.
Contacted for comment, Grain Tigers’ Tatenda Chipungudza did not respond to the questions sent to him by this publication.
