TONGOGARA coach, Calvin Maphosa is confident his side will pip Kwekwe United to the ZIFA Central Region Soccer League title.
The winners of the title earn a ticket to promotion into the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
The army side are in second spot, trailing Kwekwe United by just three points with three games to go.
On Sunday, Tongogara edged Bishopstone 1-0 courtesy of a Willard Bembenene goal.
The win put their points tally to 62, three behind Kwekwe United who are on 65 points.
However, Tongogara have a game in hand.
The game in hand however, is against Wangu Mazodze City who were booted out of the league.
It is most likely that Tongogara will be awarded a full set of points plus three goals to go level on points with the leaders.
And Maphosa opines that they have to win all their matches to gain promotion.
“This is the crucial stage of the season, all the games left are not easy,” he said.
“That tells us that we have to will all our matches and not look at how Kwekwe are performing.”
Tongogara have come close losing out as runners up on three occasions.
Maphosa says they’re not reading much into his side’s past failures.
“I have been telling the boys not to worry much about what has happened in the past.
“It all remains in the past what is important is the task at hand and we want to do our best and get over the line,” he said.
Kwekwe march on:
In other matches, Elton Njini’s brace inspired Kwekwe United to a 2-0 over Chapungu at Ascot stadium.
Kwekwe United coach, Prince Matore was relieved his side secured the three points against Chapungu.
“This was one match I was worried about because they beat us in the reverse fixture,” he said.
“Now we have to focus on the remaining matches and pray that we get positive results.”
