FORMER Highlanders winger, Joel Luphahla has joined Dynamos as the first assistant coach to Lloyd ‘Mablanyo’ Chigowe.

Luphahla is coming in from Central Region Soccer League side, Dulibadzimu, where is was part of the coaching set up.

The former warriors players’ notable claim to fame as a coach came in 2018 when he guided Telone into the premiership.

After leaving the WiFi Boys in 2019, he joined Northern region side Golden Eagles as their head coach.

Luphahla also serves as an assistant coach at Highlanders in 2023 and 2023.

He, however, remains one of the promising coaches on the local scene.

Luphahla becomes the second appointment into Chigowe’s backroom staff after that of Warren Mapanga as the goalkeeper’s coach.

But, The Echo understands that Mablanyo had recommended the appointment of former midfielder, Philemon Mutyakureva as his assistant.

All seemed in place for Mutyakureva’s appointment until club owner Bernard Marriott shot down the idea at the last minute.

Dembare host Simba Bhora at Babourfields stadium this afternoon in what will be Chigowe’s first match in charge.
