GWERU- IN a bid to make an immediate return to the Premier Soccer League (PSL), Sheasham fc have made a complete overhaul of their squad The Echo can reveal.
The club is understood to have retained only 10 players from the squad that got relegated from the PSL last season.
Warriors trialist Thubelihle Jubane, defenders Roy Useni, Collen Kwaramba and William Stima look likely to form the spine of Lizwe Sweswe’s new look side.
While combative midfielder, Leonard Jani, the attacking trio of Liberty Masveure, Hillary Bakacheza and Physiwell Madhazi all survived the chop.
Sweswe also kept faith in young goalkeeper Elton Sibanda, who had an outstanding season for the construction boys.
Veteran striker, Kudakwashe Musharu has been elevated into the technical department together with goalkeeper Liberty Chirava.
The rest of the players were deemed as excess baggage. Midfielder, Polyester Shoko has already found a home across town at newly promoted premiership side, Telone, while Nigel Mpinduki is most likely to be part of the furniture at Manica Diamonds.
The axe also fell on the club’s executive that was led by Gweru lawyer, Reginald Chidawanyika, with new appointments set to be announced soon.
A source privy to ongoings at the club said Sweswe had already started making new additions to the side.
“In the coming days a number of players will be joining Sheasham, mainly players whom Sweswe previously worked with at Bulawayo Chiefs,” said the source.
The Echo understands defender Kim Sibanda headlines the list of players joining from Amakhosi.
Sheasham will be playing in the Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Soccer League this season and will likely face stiff competition from perennial campaigners and last season runner ups Tongogara as well as Air force of Zimbabwe side, Chapungu.
