FC Platinum coach, Norman Mapeza is hopeful the draw against Manica Diamonds on Saturday could mark a turnaround for his side’s stuttering campaign.

After losing four league games on the trot, the Zvishavane side eventually halted the free fall in a goalless draw against the Gem boys.

This match was rescheduled after the death of FC Platinum midfielder, Brian Banda who passed away in a car accident.

The point earned lifted the former champions into sixth place on the log standings with 41 points from 27 matches.

Mapeza was relieved by the result and feels this gives his side something to work on.

“A point is a fair result,” the former warriors captain said.

“We had a few opportunities, but from where we are coming from we will just go home with a point and start from there.”

Having lost ground in the title race, focus now for FC Platinum is to earn a respectable finish.

Pure Platinum Play hosts Highlanders in their next match at Mandava stadium.

Mapeza feels getting a point away to Manica Diamonds instills the belief in his side.

“This is a massive point for us, the boys worked hard and we will work from there,” he added.

“Next we are playing Highlanders and we will build from this point.”

Elsewhere, ZPC Kariba booked a place in the quarter finals of the Chibuku Super Cup with a 6-5 penalty shoot out win against Chicken Inn.

The match had ended in a goalless draw at Nyamhunga stadium.
