Have you ever imagined what it would look like if dance and martial arts were to be combined.

Well, renowned Taekwondo master coach, Admire Tshitshiliza is fusing the two, in a positive way.

He has adopted the concept of mixing dance and Taekwondo, to introduce the sport to youngsters.

The former national team athlete, is using the concept in schools, targeting young children.

Tshitshiliza recently hosted a Taekwondo and Dance festival in Gweru where two schools participated.

“We recently held a Taekwondo and Dance festival, which was a success,” he reckons.

“The main aim was to showcase the taekwondo skills and dancing skills as well as giving exposure to the kids.”

He added that apart from introducing the sports to young children, the festivals also instill valuable life skills to children.

Apart from self defense skills, Taekwondo in addition, fosters discipline and self control.

It is beneficial for the physical fitness of the children and improves their cardiovascular system.

While dance builds the children’s confidence and self esteem as well as developing their creativity among other things.

“Combining taekwondo and dance can teach kids various valuable skills and values, including,”said Tshitshiliza.

“Improved coordination and balance, both taekwondo and dance require coordination and balance, which can improve overall physical fitness.”
