MWOS extended their lead at the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League to four points with a 1-0 win over Scottland at Ngoni Stadium.
The victory also stretched the Norton based side’s unbeaten run to 14 matches.
Billy Veremu’s second half strike decided the high stakes encounter ensuring MWOS get the bragging rights.
Interestingly, in the run up to the match, both teams had dangled jaw dropping inducements as winning bonuses.
Subsequently, setting the stage for what appeared a fierce rivalry in the making.
In the end, the Lloyd Mutasa coached outfit emerged victors.
The win ensures that they put some daylight between themselves and second placed Simba Bhora.
The Shamva side were held to a goalless draw at home to Ngezi Platinum Stars.
After the match, Mutasa felt it was sweet winning against a Scottland side that controversially piped MWOS to promotion last year.
“Winning against Scottland is so sweet,” Mutasa told the media.
“At one occasion I wanted to quit football because of what transpired last season. I knew playing Scottland was a massive game.
“It had the potential to take away all the hard work we had put in from the beginning of the season had we lost.
“I am pleased that we have managed to make the people of Norton proud, if not the whole country.”
Back to winning ways

“It’s a huge relief, I said it when I was in Harare, we had so many draws,” FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza said.
“It looked like either we would win or draw because of the many draws. It’s all about belief and I’m glad we won.”
