THE ZIFA Central Region Soccer League has announced the postponement of the opening fixtures slated for this weekend.
In a statement, the CRSL said the move was necessitated by the desire to allow clubs to fully comply with club licensing requirements.
“The Region hereby informs your esteemed office and person of the postponement of the league kick off,” the regional administrator, Gift Nyapomwe said in a notice .
“Please be advised that the postponed league week one fixtures will be played on the 12th of April 2025 and 13th of April 2025 respectively.
“This decision has been made to guarantee that all participating clubs have completed the necessary licensing requirements and registered their players properly.”
The decision to postpone the fixtures comes in the wake of at least 14 grounds failing to be homologated .
This is according to the latest CRSL grounds inspection report.
Grounds that failed to be homologated are : MSU Sports Pavilion,Chahwanda stadium,Tongogara Battlefields ground.
Additionally, JT Air force of Zimbabwe Sports Club, Nembudziya stadium and Mushayavhudzi stadium were affected as well.
Mvuma Primary, Long John stadium,Collen Bawn stadium,Prison grounds,Gresham stadium,Yellow Machine stadium,Gweru Sports Club and Chrome stadium.
The CRSL will conduct another round of inspection before the commencement of the opening week fixtures.
MSU,Tongogara and Dinson Mvuma were the affected teams who could not find alternative venues to host their matches.
