FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza is optimistic his side will start scoring more goals this season beginning with the match against log leaders MWOS.

The two sides clash in a Castle Lager Premier League match at Mandava stadium this afternoon.

The premiership new boys are surprise leaders with seven points from three matches. While the Zvishavane side are fifth on the standings with five points from the same number of points.

Before the international break, Mapeza beamoaned the lack of precision in front of goals by his forwards.

But the former warriors skipper is of the opinion that the tide is about to change for the former league champions.

He added that they used the break to work on the team’s finishing and that goals will start coming in a flurry.

“Having the international break or not, it is work in progress, we have to rectify the problems we have,” he said ahead of the top of the table clash with MWOS.

“The good part of training is that you work on what you want to improve, on what you feel like you are not doing okay.

“The break gave us an opportunity to rectify all our mistakes and to also polish our squad and work on those weaknesses which I feel we were having in our previous matches.”

He added: “The biggest challenge we are having now is not only at FC Platinum, it’s the challenge of scoring goals, we need people who can score goals.

“Come Saturday, with what we have seen and what we have been doing in training, the goals will come.”

In Gweru, former champions Caps United are away to Hebert ‘Jompano’ Maruwa’s TelOne, in what promises to be an exciting encounter.

The WiFi boys gaffer admitted it will not be an easy match but challenged his charges to be on top of their game.

“It’s not an easy game for us, Caps are a big team so we need to up our game and make sure we get a positive result,” Maruwa said.

“We also need to make sure we stay near to the leading pack, so by collecting maximum points it will help us.”
