THE Central Region Soccer League Soccer Star of the year selection will take place in Gweru tomorrow.
A panel comprising of selected journalists, coaches and captains of teams in the league will constitute the selection panel.
The names of the 11 best players will be released soon after the selection process.
However, the player of the year and the two runner ups will be revealed on the day of the bouquet.
This year’s awards will be hosted in Mvuma on December 14.
The top goal scorer, goalkeeper of the year and coach of the year will be honoured on the same day.
Chapungu’s Edward Watson is guaranteed to get the golden boot after a stellar performance for the Air force of Zimbabwe side.
While Kwekwe United coach, Prince Matore looks likely to bag the coach of the year award after guiding his side to promotion.
Kwekwe United, who won the title, will most probably provide a large number of players on the best 11.
Outstanding performers such as David Chipo,Elton Njini, Elton Nechiware and Tinashe Mashaireni have a strong case to make.
Chapungu goalkeeper, Polite Sibanda,his teammate Piniel Gumbo and Watson are all in with a shout.
Tongogara’s pair of Simon Shanga and Shelton Mhaka also had a good season and may most likely feature on the list too.
This year, the central region leadership partnered with Prime Sports Africa who will host the awards event.
Julius Chakupewa of Prime Sports Africa confirmed the partnership.
“We are honoured to host this event, a first for Mvuma and we are equally proud to partner the Central soccer league in acknowledging and rewarding the top performers of a riveting 2024 season,” he said.
Last year, Blessing Sahondo of TelOne walked away as the best player of the season.
