KWEKWE United’s title credentials come under sever scrutiny when they face a stubborn Dinson Mvuma in a ZIFA Central Region Soccer League match this Sunday.
The Gold boys, as Kwekwe United are fondly refered to, are six matches away from glory.
Last weekend they were held away to basement side MSU and will be desperate to avoid a similar pitfall.
The bleep against MSU resulted in Kwekwe’s lead at the top being cut to three points.
They have 53 points while second placed Tongogara are on 50 points, Chapungu are third on 47 points.
The Prince Matore coached side however, have to navigate their way past a tough Dinson Mvuma side.
Dinson Mvuma coach Joseph Michaels is confident his charges will not roll over for the log leaders.
“We have a very good side that is playing total football that is very entertaining,”
“The past matches have shown that no one come to our home ground and walks away with a win.
“The best any team can get is a draw, we are prepared for this match, we have played them before.
“They beat us 1-0 when we were a man short but this time we have home advantage.”
Michaels added that although, Kwekwe United are log leaders, this match is an acid test and should test their character to be champions.
He opines that his side is reserves the best for big occasions and the match against Kwekwe United is no exception.
“Our home ground has become a lion’s den, they have to be at their very best to get something out of the match,” added the former Chapungu coach.
“That they are gunning for the title makes it even more exciting an we are looking forward to the match.”

Action starts on Saturday with MSU hosting ZRP Gwanda while Black Eagles are at home to Beitbridge fc, Dulibadzimu are at home to West Nicholson.
On Sunday, Tongogara make the long trip to Gokwe North while third placed Chapungu hosts Bishopstone at Ascot stadium.
Former premiership side Shabanie travel to Gwanda for a date against Blanket Mine at Long John stadium.
