KWEKWE United coach Prince Matore has lauded his players despite being held to a goalless draw by MSU on Sunday.
Despite the draw, Kwekwe United retains pole position in the ZIFA Central Region Soccer League log standings.
They are on 56 points, three more than Tongogara who occupy second spot on the table.
The army side beat Blanket Mine 2-0 at the Battlefield grounds. Chapungu are third on 47 points.
The log leaders were expected to steamroll past the students but found the going tough.
Matore has taken it in his stride and is already looking ahead to making a strong finish in the season.
“MSU defended well, we created chances but they defended well it happens in football,” he said.
“I can’t fault my players, second round games are always difficult especially for us because we are top.
“We created chances but the keeper was good, he made several saves so it is part of football.
“What is important is how we are going to rise and finish after this set back.”
