IT appears nothing will stand in Simba Bhora‘s way in their quest for a maiden Castle Lager Premier Soccer league title.
This, after the Shamva outfit made light work of Chegutu Pirates at Wadzanai stadium on Wednesday.
Striker Ishmael Nyanhi and midfielder, Mthokozisi Msebe were on target for Simba Bhora to ensure they collect maximum points.
They are now nine points ahead of FC Platinum who are in second place with 56 points.
The Platinum miners were held 1-1 away to Green Fuel at the Green Fuel arena in Chisumbanje.
With other teams in the title race dropping points, Tonderai Ndiraya’s side appears to have one hand on the title.
Manica Diamonds lost 1-0 away to ZPC Kariba while Ngezi Platinum Stars were held 1-1 away to Bulawayo Chiefs.
NDIRAYA ON SQUAD ROTATION
“It was all about energy levels, we played on Sunday against a top team in Highlanders,”Ndiraya said after the match.
“But unfortunately, that game did not end and because of that it allowed us to retain some energy.
“And we came up today and freshened up the team by making four changes from the team that started.”
The former Dynamos midfielder hailed his charges’ resilience in the match.
“So it’s a good result and performance from the boys because it’s quite difficult to play two matches in four days,” he added.
“But I also felt that Chegutu Pirates played well especially in the second half, we had to defend and make sure that we do not concede.”
Chegutu Pirates coach Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe conceded defeat saying they had lost to a better side.
He however, did not bury his head in sand and remains optimistic his side still has a chance of surviving relegation.
“We gave it our all, we were facing a top side and I think we gave a good show,” he said.
“Unfortunately we couldn’t get the result we wanted but we will continue to fight to the end.”
