THE Zimbabwe Women Soccer League (ZWSL) match between Midlands State University Queens (MSU) and Black Rhinos Queens failed to take place.

This was after the hosts failed to turn up for the match at the MSU Campus grounds in Gweru.

There was no sign of the hosts’ players or officials at the venue by the 11 am kick off time.

Even the match officials did not turn up for the match leaving only the army side at the venue.

And Chauya Chipembere who had been in the Midlands capital since Sunday ended up having a training session.

The army side edged Sheasham Gweru Queens 1-0 last Sunday at Gweru Sports Club.

The Echo understands that MSU had, on Monday written to the league officials requesting for the postponement of the match.

RESPONSE FROM ZWSL

“As a professional women’s football league operating within FIFA standards, we expect all teams to adhere to our scheduling and notification protocols

“Given that your next match against Black Rhinos Queens is scheduled for Wednesday 31 July 2024, we find the short notice provided to be unacceptable.”

DISGRUNTLED RHINOS’

The army side expressed their disappointment in a post on their Facebook timeline.

“We made the long trip to Gweru for a match against MSU Queens who abandoned the game. What a let down,”read the post.

And Rhinos are most likely going to be awarded three points while the Gweru side face sanctions from the ZWSL.

POSSIBLE PENALTIES FOR MSU
