ARMY side Tongogara consolidated their position at the top of the ZIFA Central Region Soccer League with a slender 1-0 win over Beitbridge fc on Saturday.

It means Tongogara will go to the mid season break leading in the race for promotion to the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

They have 33 points and enjoy a one point cushion over second placed Kwekwe United who beat FC Platinum U19 by a solitary goal at the Ziscosteel club.

In-form striker Edward Watson struck twice as Chapungu eased past Wangu Mazodze City at the JT Air force base.

The Air force of Zimbabwe outfit are now in third spot on 29 points just four points adrift of the leaders.

Inconsistent Sheasham’s bid for an immediate return to the PSL took a dent after they lost 1-0 away to Blanket Mine in Gwanda.The construction boys trail the log leaders by five points.

Meanwhile, the league will take a week long break with action set to resume on the first weekend of August.

“The Association hereby advise your esteemed office and person that the first half of the 2024 soccer season ended on the 21st of July 2024,” reads a letter addressed to the clubs.

“We kindly request all clubs with outstanding fines, gate levies and affiliation fees to clear their debts on or before 30 July 2024 in order to remain in good standing with the Association.Please be advised that all league games are resuming on Saturday 3 of August 2024.”
