MAMBO High school cemented their place as a powerhouse in Baseball after the Gweru school won the national boys under 16’s tournament last Friday beating Nemakonde 3-0 in the finals.

This means the Gweru school now has both the girls and boys national titles after the under 16 girls team finished first at the national Softball competition a fortnight ago.

The boys team romped to victory in spectacular fashion winning all their six matches.

In the group stages, Mambo thrashed Gwanda 7-0, before edging Mutare boys High 2-1 and completed the groups stages with a 4-1 victory over Emuganwini.

In the quarter finals, they dispatched Ihlati 3-0 before accounting for Mutendi 6-0 in the semi finals.

Meanwhile two learners from Mambo high have been called up to the national under 18 girls team.

Ànesu Mhuriro and Sitabile Ziwewa are part of the provisional squad that is set to travel to Polokwane,South Africa for the baseball5 world cup qualifiers.
