VETERAN strikers Tineyi Chitora and Allan Tavarwisa turned back the hands of time producing stellar performances as Chapungu ended their five match winless run with an emphatic 5-0 win over Shabanie Mine in a Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Soccer League match on Saturday.
Chitora and Tavarwisa got a brace apiece while Edward Watson got the other as the Air force of Zimbabwe side returned to winning ways in style.
Chapungu assistant coach Tafadzwa Mombeshora was delighted that his side had finally turned the corner.
“It has been a long time coming, we have been waiting for this, I am happy for the lads and fans, many thanks to the executive,” he said.
Waru Waru are in 12th place on the log standings, 11 points behind leaders Dulibadzimu United who also hammered Bishopstone 3-0 in a derby in Beitbridge.
Mombeshora feels his side now needs to build on this result and gather momentum for the rest of the season.
“Each game has a different plan and different approach,we also play different opponents but what we are striving for is to get three points every game,” added that former midfielder.
In other matches Kwekwe United humbled Midlands State University (MSU) with a 5-0 hammering at Baghdad stadium on Saturday.
Innocent Mundinga led with a brace while the other goals came from Last Nyilenda, Takudzwa Nyengera and David Chipo.
The Blues are now second on the log standings with 20 points while Tongogara are third on 19 points after dropping points in a goalless draw away to Blanket Mine.
Former premiership side Sheasham dropped points away to bottom of the log side Black Eagles in a one all draw.The construction boys are fourth with 18 points.
