RISING sports model, Moreblessing Korai is optimistic of making inroads in the bodybuilding and fitness
world after a promising start to her career.

In her first two competitions, Korai has already made two podium finishes coming second at the Novice Zimbabwe in April as well as finishing first at the World Fitness Federation(WFF) Midlands championship and fitness expo held in Gweru a fortnight ago.

That has given her hope of a bright future in the sport.

“I see my self excelling in the upcoming events since i started the year on a good note.I would like to be an example to other females out there that working out does not harm anything lets all keep fit,” said the 25 year old.

But how did it all start for Korai? Well, what started off as a fitness program to build her lower body, led to the discovery of her talent in the sport.

As the Zvishavane based athlete recounts, she came across pictures of other female athletes and that inspired her to pursue fitness and bodybuilding.

It however, took her some time to find her footing in the field until she got assistance from another athlete, Yeukai Midzi who provided the much needed guidance.

“I started working out in 2021 because i was too slim, i wanted to gain the lower body,i then came across some pictures in 2022 of female athletes and i just envied them, that’s when i told myself that i needed to try,” Korai recalls how her journey began.

“I wanted to try last year but because i didn’t have someone to teach me how to go about it in terms of poses and other stuff so I failed to compete last year that’s when i engaged Yeukai Midzi for the help in February this year.

“She helped me to gain confidence, i was not well equipped for the Novice Zimbabwe but i needed to try and see how it goes, luckily i finished second, I was so proud and i told myself that i can do it for the next show.”

She added: “Believe me i did my best i even saw some changes, i worked hard for the Midlands championship, i was fully geared for this event and got first position.”

For someone who comes from a small mining town, the road has not been easy for Korai as she has had to overcome several obstacles along the way.

One of the challenges she has faced is the negative perceptions from the society. But she says that has not deterred her, if anything it has given her more impetus.

“I faced a lot of challenges especially when it comes to the posing trunk, most people say we are as good as strippers so i just ignored them and had to focus on my goals.Personally i know who i want to be, so to keep moving i ignore what the community says,” Korai added.
