TELONE surrendered a slender one goal lead to allow Herentals to come from behind and snatch all the three points with a 2-1 win in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Rufaro stadium on Saturday.

The WiFi boys have been guilty of dropping points from winning positions having previously done so against ZPC Kariba, Green Fuel and Chicken Inn.

They have now gone for nine matches without a victory in the league and are third from bottom on the log standings with 12 points from 14 games.

Winger Frederick Muza thrust the Gweru side into the lead 15 minutes into the match when he tapped the ball home after his initial shot had recorcheted off the post.

But the students turned the tide with two goals in the second half from Tino Benza and Blessing Phiri.

Telone coach Hebert Maruwa who is still searching for his first win since his appointment two weeks ago was disappointed by the result.

“It was a good game of football but we just lost the game due to a lapse of concentration in the game,” he said.

“I think we went to sleep and conceded two silly goals. But overally I think we played well especially in the first half and I think we just need to work on our energy levels and concentration going forward.”

Herentals coach Paul Benza was happy with his charges’ performance especially how they responded after falling behind early in the match.

“It was a very good game especially coming from behind after conceding in the first half.I’m very happy that we managed to collect all three points,” said Benza.

In Bulawayo, Chicken Inn missed the opportunity of catching up with the leading pack as they were held to a goalless draw by new boys Chegutu Pirates at Luveve stadium.

Chicken Inn assistant coach Fungai Kwashi blastes his players for a poor showing.

“Pathetic, lackluster, poor, off the boil,we had a bad game and the guys didn’t come to the party. There are no excuses when you play football at home, you need to maximize and win your matches,” he said.
