HEBERT ‘Jompano’ Maruwa is back in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after he was officially unveiled as the new Telone coach.

He replaces Tendai Chikuni who was sacked earlier this week after a string of poor results.

Maruwa’s immediate task is steering the ship to safety. The WiFi boys currently sit 11th on the log standings with 11 points.

“To ensure that the team we are all passionate about is well oiled, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Hebert Maruwa as the new coach,” said Telone president Oscah Nduwure.

“He will lead the team forward, his appointment comes after an extensive search and we believe he has what it takes to carry the vision that we have going forward.”

Maruwa who was the head coach at Northern region Division one side Harare City said the decision to join Telone was an easy one as it was motivated by the desire to face new challenges.

“When the president called me it did not take long for me to agree, I accepted the offer because I knew what I wanted and to face new challenges,” he said.

Telone retained the rest of the technical department that was working with Chikuni although Maruwa has been given an option to make his own additions to the department.

Maruwa’s immediate task is guiding the WiFi boys away against Ngezi Platinum Stars before hosting Chicken Inn next Wednesday.
