CHAPUNGU shot to the top of the Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Soccer League with an emphatic 6-0 victory over Black Eagles at Ascot stadium on Saturday.

In form striker, Edward Watson led the rout with a hatrick, the other goals came from Spencer Masunda,Piniel Gumbo and the ageless Tineyi Chitora.

The Air force of Zimbabwe side are now on seven points from three matches, the same as Dulibadzimu and West Nicholson but Waru Waru have a superior goal difference.

Chapungu coach Tawanda Marimo said the result was a statement of intent for their season’s targets.

“At the beginning we said that this year we are not here to make up the numbers,” he said.

“We are going for the big one, which is the championship. Yes there are teams with better financial muscle but we will fight to the very end.”

Elsewhere, Sheasham are still in search of their first win of the season after they played out to a nil all draw against Kwekwe United at Ziscosteel club.

It was Sheasham’s third draw of the season and the pressure is beginning to tell on coach Lizwe Sweswe.

“I think it’s good you can’t say the boys played badly, it is a good result. If there are any challenges we will work on them at training,” he said.

Third placed West Nicholson were held to a goalless draw by Wangu Mazodze City while fifth placed Tongogara had a comfortable 2-0 victory over FC Platinum U19.
