FORMER league champions FC Platinum threw away a two goal lead, allowing Bikita Minerals to come from behind and pocket a precious point at Mandava stadium in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match on Saturday.
It was an outcome FC Platinum coach, Norman Mapeza considered as having dropped two points.
A win would have allowed the hosts to top the log standings, at least for the next 24 hours.
And they looked on course to doing so when Juan Mutudza gave the Zvishavane side the lead early in the second half. The match looked settled after Davison Marowa doubled the lead with his first goal for the miners moments later.
However, a spirited fight back was started by Liberty Masveure, who halved the deficit after 67 minutes, before Chris Makambira completed a remarkable comeback with seven minutes to go.
“Today it is two points dropped, at home leading two nil, that’s definitely two points dropped,” Mapeza said in disappointment with the result.
He further expressed concern with the way his side defended in both goals.
“We scored early within the first 20 minutes we were leading two nil but again we let in very soft goals,” he said.
“If you look at the first goal, we could have done better on that throw in. Second goal as well, I was talking to the defender that force that man wide. But we will keep working hard.”
Bikita Minerals coach, Saul Chaminuka hailed his charges for showing character.
“I think we showed character, from two down to force a draw we showed good character and fighting spirit,” he said.
