Yadah in controversial win over Telone

By Sports writer

POOR match officiating once again took centre stage as Telone lost 3-2 to Yadah Stars in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Bata stadium on Sunday.

The WiFi boys will perhaps feel shortchanged by referee, Tichaona Tigere after the match official blew the final whistle two minutes before the end of the optional nine minutes that had been added.

It was a bitter pill to swallow for the Gweru side who were on the ascendency in search of an equaliser having gone 3-0 down at some stage in the match.

Two goals in stoppage time from Kudzai Jaison and Collins Chidomaya had given the WiFi boys hope of snatching a point.

But Tigere had other ideas, saving the miracle boys from the onslaught with two minutes remaining.

Tigere and his assistants had to be escorted out of by the field of play by the police as irate Telone fans bayed for their blood.

Telone coach Tendai Chikuni did not want to focus on the decisions by the referees, but felt his side should have done better to kill off the match.

“We could have won this match but we failed to score when we got our chances. How the match ended is beyond our control, we cannot control what referees decide,” he said.

Prosper Kafelapanjila gave Yadah the lead in the first half, converting from the penalty spot before Marlon Mushonga doubled the lead moments before the break.

Blessing Ndereki scored the third goal for the Prophet Walter Magaya owned side in the second half.
