THE ZIFA disciplinary committee has referred back to the ZIFA Eastern Region Soccer League, the matter between Tenax and Bikita Minerals, in which the prisons wardens were challenging the promotion of Bikita Minerals into the Premier Soccer League (PSL) via the boardroom.

Tenax had finished the season at the apex of the log standings and declared winners of the sole ticket to the premiership.

However, Bikita Minerals lodged a complaint with the ERSL, contesting that their opponents in the final match, Grayham fielded an ineligible player.

The ERSL awarded the miners all the three points from that match which meant that Bikita Minerals piped Tenax to the top spot.

But Tenax challenged the decision and approached the Normalisation committee seeking redress.

According to a leaked judgement purported to be from the ZIFA disciplinary committee which sat late last month, the committee noted a number of flaws in the manner in which the ERSL handled both the Grayham/Bikita Minerals case as well as the Tenax appeal.

The disciplinary committee noted that the ERSL executive committee had no right to preside over the Bikita Minerals complaint against Grayham, as a disciplinary committee.

The ERSL also failed to give notice of attendance to a hearing among other errors committed by the region’s leadership.

“Since time is of essence the defendant is directed to direct the misconduct by Grayham FC to the disciplinary committee to deal with this as a matter of extreme urgency,” reads part of the judgement.

The PSL is scheduled to commence this week, and last month, the league’s leadership said th league would begin even without a representative from the Eastern Region if the matter remains unresolved before the kick off of that league.
