KWEKWE United have appointed former Chicken Inn coach Prince Matore as their head coach on a one year contract,The Echo Sports can report.

Matore left the gamecocks at the end of last season after a disappointing season with the Bulawayo side last season.

He takes over from Beknown Mhlangeni who was in charge of Kwekwe United last season.

The former Motor Action defender has now been tasked with leading the Kwekwe side to promotion into the Premier Soccer League (PSL) from the Ruvimbo funeral Central Region Soccer League this term.

Kwekwe United president, Phil Makekera confirmed Matore’s appointment.

“Yes, Prince Matore is now our head coach on a one year contract. His task is to guide the team into the Premier Soccer League,” he told The Echo Sports.

Kwekwe United have found promotion to the PSL elusive.Last season, the club hired former warriors striker Agent Sawu to lead the club.

Sawu’s tenure was however, shortlived as he was fired less than 10 games into his reign after a string of poor results.

This season, a total of 18 teams have confirmed participation in the league. Former premiership sides Chapungu,Tongogara and Sheasham are expected to be the main protagonists in this season’s race for promotion.
