THIS will be their third straight season in the lower division and Chapungu coach, Tawanda Marimo feels that the airmen have overstayed their welcome in the Ruvimbo funeral Central Region Soccer League.

The Air force of Zimbabwe side were relegated from the Premier Soccer League (PSL) at the end of the 2019 season.

Waru Waru has failed to make a return to the PSL on two attempts and Marimo believes they have to get it right on their third attempt this season.

“It’s our third year now in the central region, it’s high time we get to where we belong, which is the PSL, and play with the big boys.We are going for the big one,” Marimo boldly declared in an interview with The Echo Sports.

Last season the Gweru based outfit finished the season in fourth place, 14 points behind eventual winners Telone who had 64 points.

But, Marimo will take solace in that he took charge of the team midway through the season, after the sacking of Clemence Zuze in June last year.

And in his first full season, the former Chapungu defender is delighted that the airmen have managed to retain the bulk of players from last season’s squad.

“I’m very happy that I managed to retain the bulk of the team which did duty for me in the second half of season when i took over the team,” he said.

“So far our preparations are going well, and i’m quite impressed with the way the boys are responding to our sessions.”

Chapungu however, lost the duo of slippery winger, Nqosiyabo Masilela and Tadiwanashe Muchenje, who both joined Bulawayo Chiefs.

Waru Waru are understood to have signed the highly rated Marshall Mugaviri who was with Tongogara last term.

Marimo revealed that he needs to beef up his squad, but said he would not go for big names.

“We are looking forward to adding five or six new guys to bolster our squad, we are still trying to tie loose ends with the players, but we are not going for big names as we already have them in our squad,” he added.
