NEWLY assembled side, DINSON MVUMA FC have boldly declared that they are not joining the Ruvimbo Central Region Soccer League to make up the numbers but want to make the most of their excursion in the division this year.

The Mvuma based outfit are bankrolled by emerging steel manufacturing company Dinson iron and steel company.

The team has already began the process of assembling a strong squad that will compete in the division one league this season.

So far, Dinson Mvuma have held trials across the mining town and will conclude their talent identification process with what has been dubbed as the club’s ‘national trials’ on Saturday in Mvuma.

Dinson Mvuma fc organising secretary Damascus Virima told The Echo Sports that the club’s intention is to make an instant impact this term.

“The whole idea of entering a competition is to win not just to make up numbers,” he said.

“God willing our plan is to win promotion into the Premier Soccer League (PSL) in our first year. However, if that does not happen, we will take it as a learning experience, hoping that we will build on that in the following year.”

The Mvuma side has been rumoured to be targeting former Lancashire Steel, Kaizer Chiefs and warriors striker, Luke Petros to spearhead the technical department as their head coach.

But Virima refused to shed light on the rumour saying they will unveil their technical department on Saturday.

“All will be made clear on Saturday at our trials, people will always speculate, sometimes the speculation becomes true, or otherwise. However, having such experienced coaches is exactly what we would love to have as a club because they can navigate the terrain with ease,” he said.

Mvuma FC were the last team to represent the town in the Central region division one league in 2015 before they were expelled from league for misconduct.

Unlike other seasons, the Ruvimbo Central Region Soccer League this season is most likely to have a bigger number of teams participating with nearly 20 teams being rumoured to have indicated their willingness to participate.

Former PSL sides, Sheasham, Chapungu and Tongogara are the favourites to battle it out for the sole ticket to the PSL.
