SPEEDY Caps United winger, Ian Nyoni could be set for a move away from the Harare giants following the expiry of his contract at the end of last year.

Several premiership sides are said to be monitoring the developments on the contract situation.

Makepekepe are keen to retain the player for the forthcoming season but are yet to reach an agreement over a new deal with the 27 year old.

Shamva based outfit, Simba Bhora, who announced the signing of 10 players yesterday are one of the teams rumoured to be interested in the former Chapungu player.

The club nearly signed Nyoni at the beginning of last season only for the deal to collapse at the eleventh hour.

“Simba Bhora have always had an interest in Nyoni that dates back to last season,” revealed a source.

“Nyoni almost joined Simba last season and the club is keen to make that move happen this time around.”

Premier Soccer League (PSL) returnees, Telone fc are also reported to have made inquiries about the players’ availability.

The Gweru side are coached by Tendai Chikuni, who once worked with Nyoni at Chapungu, and a possible reunion could be on the horizon.

However, Telone president Oscah Nduwure poured cold waters on the rumour.

“As a club we have never approached Ian Nyoni for signing neither did Ian show any interest in joining the Wifi boys,” he said.

However, this publication understands there has been contact between the two parties over a possibility of a move.

“Preliminary discussions were held between the two parties although there was no agreement reached. Nyoni and the Telone coach (Chikuni) have previously worked together and there is a possibility of a reunion,” said the source who spoke on condition of anonymity.
