SHEASHAM captain Nigel Mpinduki has announced his departure from the club after a five year stay at the Gweru side.

Koko,as the midfielder is affectionately known, led the construction boys as captain in their maiden season in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

He announced his departure from the club in a Facebook post on Thursday.

“When I first arrived here, I was a young man with one kid and a lot of dreams,” Mpinduki posted.

“It’s hard for me to even believe, but I am leaving five years later as a father who has fulfilled some of his dreams that he ever had.Today is bittersweet. Goodbyes are never easy, but it’s even harder with this team. I will miss all of you honestly.”

Sheasham were relegated from the PSL and will play in the Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Soccer League next season where they hope to make a quick comeback.

It appears the player is not part of coach Lizwe Sweswe’s plans.

Although he was one of the most senior players at the club last season, the midfielder appears to have crossed paths with Sweswe.

This latest development gives credence to rumours that the Sheasham skipper was banished from the squad towards the end of last season.

The club however, kept the matter under wraps as they felt it would destabilize the team and derail their fight against relegation.

Mpinduki’s departure at Sheasham is only a drop in the ocean as close to a dozen other players are set to depart in the coming days.
