VETERAN Black Rhinos striker, Lot Chiwunga has challenged his teammates to remain focused ahead of this Saturday’s relegation showdown.

The army side are battling to retain their place in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League for next season, and are among four other teams that are fighting to avoid the chop.

Currently they are in 15th place on the log standings with 35 points, two behind Yadah Stars who occupy the last safety spot.

Triangle and Sheasham both on 35 points as well as ZPC Kariba (38) and Yadah (37) are the other teams in the relegation matrix.

And with a lot of permutations around this weekend’s matches pitting teams in the relegation matrix, Chiwunga has called on the soldiers to keep their eyes on the prize.

“My message to the players all week was that we need to be focused on our game and not on other teams,” he told The Echo Sports.

“We have to win our match against Simba Bhora at all costs and see where God takes us.”

Chiwunga has been the mainstay for Chauya Chipembere since his return from a lengthy injury in mid season. The striker has led from the front scoring seven times for the army side.

But Rhinos will need to win their match against the Shamva based outfit and hope that either Yadah or ZPC Kariba lose in order for the army side to survive.

And Chiwunga feels the match against Simba Bhora is no different from any other match they have played this season.

“There is no pressure at all, to me it’s just like any other match that i have encountered before,” he said confidently.

“The goal has always been to give it my all from the beginning up to the end.”
