SHEASHAM blew a golden opportunity to increase their points tally and enhance their chances of keeping their place in the premiership next season after they allowed ZPC Kariba to earn a point in a 2-2 draw at Bata stadium.
The construction boys looked certain to collect maximum points with less than minute to full-time, but somehow their defence lost guard in the final seconds of the match.
That allowed the experienced Raphael Manuvire to pounce rifling a low shot with his left foot to draw ZPC Kariba level.
While they still have a chance of avoiding the chop, Sheasham’s destiny is no longer entirely in their own hands, as they will now have to hope results in other matches involving teams in the relegation matrix go their way.
“Definitely we now need to win both our remaining matches,” Sheasham coach Lizwe Sweswe admitted after the match.
“We have to win them at all costs, the boys worked hard, we had wanted three points but ended up getting one, you never know where this point will take us in the end,” he added.
The Gweru side will face Black Rhinos next before hosting FC Platinum in the last match of the season.
On the bright side though for Sheasham, the draw moves them out of the relegation zone for now, as they are now 14th on the standings with 35 points.
