BLACK Rhinos’ march towards safety took another huge step when they edged Yadah 1-0 at Bata stadium on Wednesday.
It was a statement win for the army side as they moved to within two points of safety.
They are now 16th on the log standings with 32 points, just two points behind Sheasham who occupy the last safety spot.
But, the manner in which Chauya Chipembere navigated past their opponents showed a lot of determination.
The army side finished the match with nine men after defender Tatenda Mchisa was shown a straight red card 15 minutes into the match.
Substitute Brian Mukucha was also given his marching orders in the second half for a second bookable offense
However, the soldiers managed to hold on to Evans Katema’s first half strike to secure the full set of points.
“Those were crucial points, we badly needed them, they will take us far,” Rhinos assistant coach Chris Mwanza said after the match.
“It is not going to be easy in the next match but with this win, it gives the boys the confidence to keep fighting on.”
Chauya Chipembere still need to win all their remaining matches to survive relegation.
They travel to Hwange this weekend, before hosting Sheasham and then concluding their season with a visit to Simba Bhora.
